Ecosystem Metabolism Application in the Taranaki Region

CLIENT: Taranki Regional Council

EXPERT: Dr. Roger Young (Cawthron)

About this resource

Dr. Roger Young (Cawthron) recently provided TRC advice on continuous dissolved oxygen (DO) monitoring and how apply the ecosystem metabolism attribute. Roger provided guidance on recommended:

  • Sampling sites
  • Place of Monitroing equiptment
  • Sampling frequency and durations;
  • Usage of sensors with wipers;
  • Requirements for average reach depth measurement; and,
  • Calculation of ecosystem metabolism.

Additionally, Roger also provided advice on the interpretation of ecosystem metabolism results and potential attribute bands.
